Hablas Ingles! (Chapter 4: Goldsboro Week 1)

And it came to pass in the commencement of the third transfer I was transferred to Goldsboro second ward!

New area! People speak English here! There are 2 people on date and the work moves really fast here. Basically if people don't come to church we stop teaching because there are so many people and we don't have time to keep teaching them if they can't keep that commitment. Kinda wild and a lot faster pace than Siler. It's pretty fun to be somewhere so busy but also exhausting. And sadly there isn't much service and the service isn't nearly as interesting. However, the members are a lot more active in missionary work! And we get fed a lot more here than in Siler.

Elder Pedersen is amazing! He is my new companion. He's helping me be a better and more dedicated missionary and I'm very excited to be with him for 7 weeks! We also just get along really well. Too well actually. It's a problem sometimes. But it's a great and fun problem.

The apartment is super nice! Wifi 2 bed 2 bath decent kitchen area. That's about all a missionary could ask for. I've been pleasantly surprised with how nice the apartments are. We are pretty close to an airforce base and lots of trains so every now and then it gets a little loud and things shake a little bit. Pretty cool.

We had a Christmas party for zone conference. We played many games and somehow I ended up wearing an adult diaper. President and Sister Stevens gave us chocolate then after a while made an announcement not to eat it. Apparently Ghirardelli chocolate has green tea in it and is therefore against the word of wisdom. I didn't know that and neither did President and Sister Stevens until someone brought it to their attention.

This week we had exchanges so I got to go with Elder Pedersen for day. There are two Elder Pedersens. Actually three but one of them pronounces it differently. It's really confusing because one of them is my DL/comp, one is my ZL and the last is my AP. The exchange went well but not too much happened.

This week I started at the beginning of the Book of Mormon again and I'm highlighting 4 things. References to Jesus Christ, Christlike attributes, words of Christ, and the doctrine of Christ according to the Book of Mormon which is faith, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. To me Christlike attributes has really stuck out to me. There are so many that I never thought about that are really cool to recognize and pop out as I looked for them. One in particular that stuck out to me that Elder Pedersen and I have talked about is desire. There is power in having the desire to serve, having the desire to learn, etc. I highly recommend highlighting a Book of Mormon this way!

I love all y'all! Have a great week!
And thus ended the first week of the third transfer

Elder Walker, Elder Pedersen, and I all happened to have matching ties!

Church History Museum Visit

My mom and I made this collage for a scout requirement. My mom accidentally put the wrong year on the picture. These pictures are actually from our trip to Utah last December. It was 2015. For scouts I need to write about how this experience helped me feel reverent or helped me better understand my duty to God. It helped me feel reverent because it has historical and religious stuff and only historical and religious stuff. And modern day religious stuff. One example was a replica of the golden plates. We got to lift it to see how heavy they were. They said it was 50 pounds and it was REALLY heavy! Also, I got to see a video that had my Grandma Lynn in it. It was about the early members of the church who were trying to decide who the next prophet should be after Joseph Smith died. Several people had a really strong spiritual experience when Brigham Young began to talk to them and the Holy Ghost helped them know that Brigham Young should be their next prophet. We also went ...

First Week of Home School

On Monday we started home school, On Wednesday at home school I finished a really good book called The Best in the West . It is very interesting. There is an almost eight foot bear in the book! The other book I have read this week is The Tale of Peter Rabbit . It is on my Battle of the Books list. My favorite topic this week has been math. One of the things I learned in math is the hyphen. You don't use a hyphen in numbers one-twenty or in numbers ending in zero. (Because those are whole numbers.) But you do use a hyphen in numbers like twenty-one. I have finished lesson 51. I did all of those lessons plus several quizzes. We went on a walk and saw salmon. They are getting ready to lay eggs and die. They were flopping a lot and fighting over who gets to be in the exact spot where they were born. I got to shoot a BB gun for science. We learned about inertia. We were doing science by shooting the BB gun at a can to see...

A Story From When I was LIttle and Other Stuff

Recently I have been interested in hearing stories about when I was little. One of my favorite stories that Mom told me was about when Ammon and I were little and we would hog the bed. She said that I would come get in her bed over and over again. Dad would carry me back to my own bed, but I would always come back. She said that even though I was small, I would take up ALL the space. Somehow I could make my arms sprawl all over the queen sized bed so there was hardly any room left. When Ammon also tried to get into Mom and Dad's bed it was even worse. Sometimes Dad would just give up on having room and he would go sleep on the couch for the rest of the night. Right now I live in Craig, Alaska on Prince of Wales Island. All of my cousins are in Utah and all of my grandparents are also in Utah. I miss them and am going to visit them in just a few weeks for my baptism. I am inviting all of my cousins, grandmas and grandpas and maybe some of my uncles and one or two aunts. I already ...
