And it came to pass in the first week of the second transfer not much happened.
I'm still in Siler City with Elder Walker. The Èlders next door got changed. Èlder Ord left to go to Raleigh, which has a Spanish ward! It's the only Spanish ward in the mission, the rest are all Branches. We also got 2 new Èlders to replace him so now they are a trio. And there is a service missionary here that goes out with them. He came home for medical reasons, but he's cleared to go back and hopes to return next month. However, for now he goes out with the now trio sometimes making them a quad. This is why it's hard for the members to feed us, there are six of us now. Also, the week before I got here it was the same situation except there was an AP blitz exchange going on at the same time so there was a member that ended up feeding seven missionaries!
Speaking of Spanish Branches, out branch is an English branch but we translate it into Spanish because there are so many Spanish speakers here. Starting next week there is going to be a Spanish group. I've never heard of a group before, but basically they meet on their own and act under the direction of the branch president still and are still part of the branch but they meet separately. They are starting next week at 5pm on Sunday! And they are meeting in Siler so it's 5 minutes away instead of 25! It's also at a coffee shop after it closes which is pretty funny. Also instead of a group we're calling it a twig because it's a small part of the branch. Church lingo is weird sometimes.
Speaking of coffee! We taught the word of wisdom to someone while he was drinking coffee. He then gave his coffee the most disgusted funny look I've ever seen and out it somewhere else. He is so awesome! He's also going to cut back on smoking and eventually stop.
Siler City was the first ones to get mission president interviews this transfer. Siler City Spanish went first, then us. And the interviews were at the apartments which doesn't usually happen. The first thing president Stevens said when he walked in was "does it usually smell like pot in here?" I case you are wondering, the answer is yes but we're just noseblind to it now.
The spiritual thought of the week is go have a personal spiritual experience! Start with spiritual preparation, usually a hymn. Then say a sincere prayer. Prayer is a an overlooked spiritual experience, usually people think of it as spiritual preparation. And it can be! So after the prayer go study scriptures. Like any good missionary, the Book of Mormon is my favorite. 2 Nephi 31, Alma 32, Ether 12, 3 Nephi 11, and 3 Nephi 27 are my recommendations. Choose one and read it.
I love all y'all very much!
And thus ended the first week of the second transfer
Èlder Ord gave me a haircut before he left
