Consecration (Ch 5: G2 pt2, Week 2)

And it came to pass in the second week of the fourth transfer we have 4 people on date!?!!

Mission vehicles have a thing that tracks EVERYTHING. Acceleration, speeding, seat belts being buckled, aggressive driving and you need to log into using a card. I went on exchanges with Elder Fox in the first ward on Thursday and he got robbed a couple days before the exchange so he didn't have his card so I drove for the first time in 6 months! I drove a 2025 rav4 with 8k miles on it. Mission vehicles are really nice. They also get them straight from the factory in bulk for a good price then resell them at a certain amount of miles for a similar price as what they bought them.

Anyways, the exchange went really well! We talked to many really cool elect people and it was just a really good day. I later found out that in my area Elder Howell and Elder Fonger stopped by some people formerly being taught and ended up putting 2 people on date for baptism! Then we stopped by them on Saturday and one of their other siblings was there too and he also wants to be baptized! So between Jane from last week and three new ones we have four people on date for baptism!

Unfortunately the three siblings weren't able to make it church on Sunday because the ride they had planned ended up not working out. We'll for sure get them there next week though! We also ended up talking during sacrament meeting.

This week has been really great! I've studied much on the topic of consecration/being all in and it has helped a lot. My last companion gave me "The Fourth Missionary" as a parting gift. One of the most influential things I learned is that I need to surrender completely to the will of God, including giving up my righteous desires. At first that didn't make sense to me, but now is the time to focus on being a missionary not what the future holds, even if my desires for the future are righteous. I discovered that while I have let go of my desires to be with my family, Lizzy, and other friends, I have not let go of my love for them. And I don't need to. All I have done is allowed myself to fully enjoy the work, to truly be all in, to not wish I were somewhere else.

Before this week I had days I was all in and a lot of days I wasn't. Now I have a lot of days I am and a couple not. It's still a work in progress and probably will be for a while. God doesn't need us to be perfect, He just wants us to make progress and improve. I invite all of you to think of one thing you can do, one desire or habit to build or let go of, and work on it. As you do so you will find more joy in your life!

Matthew 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Love y'all!
And thus ended the second week of the fourth transfer.

Church History Museum Visit

My mom and I made this collage for a scout requirement. My mom accidentally put the wrong year on the picture. These pictures are actually from our trip to Utah last December. It was 2015. For scouts I need to write about how this experience helped me feel reverent or helped me better understand my duty to God. It helped me feel reverent because it has historical and religious stuff and only historical and religious stuff. And modern day religious stuff. One example was a replica of the golden plates. We got to lift it to see how heavy they were. They said it was 50 pounds and it was REALLY heavy! Also, I got to see a video that had my Grandma Lynn in it. It was about the early members of the church who were trying to decide who the next prophet should be after Joseph Smith died. Several people had a really strong spiritual experience when Brigham Young began to talk to them and the Holy Ghost helped them know that Brigham Young should be their next prophet. We also went ...

First Week of Home School

On Monday we started home school, On Wednesday at home school I finished a really good book called The Best in the West . It is very interesting. There is an almost eight foot bear in the book! The other book I have read this week is The Tale of Peter Rabbit . It is on my Battle of the Books list. My favorite topic this week has been math. One of the things I learned in math is the hyphen. You don't use a hyphen in numbers one-twenty or in numbers ending in zero. (Because those are whole numbers.) But you do use a hyphen in numbers like twenty-one. I have finished lesson 51. I did all of those lessons plus several quizzes. We went on a walk and saw salmon. They are getting ready to lay eggs and die. They were flopping a lot and fighting over who gets to be in the exact spot where they were born. I got to shoot a BB gun for science. We learned about inertia. We were doing science by shooting the BB gun at a can to see...

A Story From When I was LIttle and Other Stuff

Recently I have been interested in hearing stories about when I was little. One of my favorite stories that Mom told me was about when Ammon and I were little and we would hog the bed. She said that I would come get in her bed over and over again. Dad would carry me back to my own bed, but I would always come back. She said that even though I was small, I would take up ALL the space. Somehow I could make my arms sprawl all over the queen sized bed so there was hardly any room left. When Ammon also tried to get into Mom and Dad's bed it was even worse. Sometimes Dad would just give up on having room and he would go sleep on the couch for the rest of the night. Right now I live in Craig, Alaska on Prince of Wales Island. All of my cousins are in Utah and all of my grandparents are also in Utah. I miss them and am going to visit them in just a few weeks for my baptism. I am inviting all of my cousins, grandmas and grandpas and maybe some of my uncles and one or two aunts. I already ...
