And it came to pass in the sixth week of the third transfer North Carolina shut down.
Since last transfer was 5 weeks (so transfers didn't end up on Christmas) this transfer is 7 weeks. So normally it would be week 6 that comes out on a Wednesday but this transfer it'll be week 7 that Pday is on Wednesday, so my next email will be February 4.
We went on exchanges with the zone leaders on Tuesday. We live in the same apartment complex and they told us Tuesday morning in the gym that we would be going on exchanges starting at lunch. I went to the Goldsboro 1st ward and overall not too much happened.
Thursday morning I woke up to a message from my mom informing me that the Governor declared a state of emergency due to dangerous weather coming from Saturday to Monday (more on that later). We had district council that morning then after we went and did service as a district. We covered some greens at a local golf course to help the grass survive the freezing rain (pretty similar to small hail). It was a ton of fun! Also it was 60 degrees and sunny and we were in a state of emergency...
On Friday we were told that as of 6pm Saturday we could not drive, or even ride with members, until further notice. We also told to expect power outages and if we needed to we could use food from the 3 day emergency supply that is in every apartment. On Saturday we found out every sacrament meeting across the whole mission got canceled. Many members from our west that we talked to were teasing about how much of an overreaction this is and how the storm won't be bad at all. I know there are many power outages, luckily, as of Sunday night when I'm writing this, no missionaries in our mission have had their apartments lose power (however our lights are flickering).
On Sunday morning we woke up to a beautiful sunny day. We went outside and had some fun with the ice on the bushes (there is none on the roads) then went inside and did lots of texts, calls, and planning because we couldn't drive. We are very lucky here in Goldsboro because we barely got hit by the storm. We are one of the few areas that might be able to drive today.
Because all services were canceled we got permission to administer the sacrament within our homes. We did it as best as we could. Dad I'm sure you'll be proud of me, we read the handbook to make sure we did everything right. We didn't have any white cloth so we did as best as we could and used clean white shirts. We sand all 7 verses of hymn 29, which isn't a traditional sacrament hymn but it definitely meets all of the requirements for a sacrament hymn.
I love chapter 6 of Preach My Gospel (PMG)! PMG is written to missionaries but it is for everyone, especially chapter 6. What is chapter 6? It's Christlike attributes! So everyone go do the attribute activity on page 136 then follow the steps on page 134! I know that as y'all seek and develop Christ like attributes you will find more joy in this life and I know God will help you gain them and improve! And I say and promise those things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
Love y'all!
And thus ended the sixth week of the third transfer.
