Chapter 3: Still Siler (Week 4)

And it came to pass in the fourth week of the second transfer...

Those of you who know me know that I like to be organized, thus why my email titles are organized but they are also a little bland. Next transfer I plan on making them a little more interesting. Transfers are a week from Thursday! So no email from me on Monday next week, that will be miracle Monday and this week is marathon week so Pday will be Wednesday. Normally there would we another week in the transfer but that would make transfers be on Christmas and no one wants that. Next transfer will be a extra week long to make up for it.

This week was kinda hectic so for the first time I'm going to break it down day by day!

Monday- Pday, pickleball, games with the district, nothing interesting.

Tuesday- We did goat farm service and they have a bunch of gelato that isn't good enough to sell that we took home! When I say a bunch I mean we took home easily 10+ gallons of gelato. We're going to give a bunch of it to other missionaries today because it's a zone Pday! (We get one of those per transfer. We also drove down to the middle of nowhere houses and got bashed. It just a rough day in general. Right after getting bashed I was notified that my amazing aunt Krista passed. It's been really hard not being there for my family, especially my cousins. I love all y'all so much! I know God wants me here so I will be staying out here. Definitely one of the hardest decisions I've had to make.

Wednesday- This whole day was a mess. The time that works best for service in our schedule is 10-12 but today the person we were helping wasn't available until 11:30 so we were there from 11:30-1:30 which we thought worked out because we thought a member was feeding us around 2 and she was in that area. Turns out she actually needed help moving a desk and said she needed to feed us sometime because she hasn't done it in a while, not that she would feed us. English is her second language.

We also helped a member transfer data from his old phone to his new phone. His storage was completely full and he forgot his password so between those obstacles a 5 minute project turned into over an hour. Also we don't generally help members with these small tasks. We're more than happy to, they just don't normally need help so today was really weird.

Thursday- We woke up and got ready and left for zone conference just after 7 to be there by 8:45 (we were a little late but also we left as soon as we could, we didn't even have breakfast). Living in the middle of nowhere makes every drive really long. Zone conference is also really long.

By the time we got back from Zone Conference it was time for the Siler City parade which took the rest of the night because the Church had a float and we were walking with it. We invited out whole zone to be there (with permission of course) but we live so far away from everyone so only one companionship came, but they were a trio so between them us and the Spanish Elders (also a trio) we had 8 missionaries!

Friday- Pretty normal except some guy gave us NIV Bibles and told us we should start handing those out instead. So now I have a NIV Bible.

Saturday- A member fed us! Yay! Usually we get at least one a week but the parade made it so we had to cancel the only one we had this week. However, Brother Blazzard randomly texted us and offered to take us out for dinner! He's the most amazing, most Christ-like man I've ever met!

Sunday- Christmas devotional and branch potluck! And fast Sunday. There are few moments more joyful in life than eating after fasting.

One other thing- here in North Carolina they have this super crazy weird version of smog called fog! It's a little lighter and you can still breath in it! It's super crazy.

Spiritual thought: have your own spiritual thought. Think about what you read from the Book of Mormon over the last week because you did that right? I taught about the Book of Mormon and extended the invitation and promised super mega blessings and now it's follow up time. What are your spiritual thought(s) from what you've read? I'd love to hear from all of y'all! But how many of you actually did?

I love all y'all so much! Have an amazing week!
And thus ended the fourth week of the second transfer.

Just a little bit of gelato.

Church History Museum Visit

My mom and I made this collage for a scout requirement. My mom accidentally put the wrong year on the picture. These pictures are actually from our trip to Utah last December. It was 2015. For scouts I need to write about how this experience helped me feel reverent or helped me better understand my duty to God. It helped me feel reverent because it has historical and religious stuff and only historical and religious stuff. And modern day religious stuff. One example was a replica of the golden plates. We got to lift it to see how heavy they were. They said it was 50 pounds and it was REALLY heavy! Also, I got to see a video that had my Grandma Lynn in it. It was about the early members of the church who were trying to decide who the next prophet should be after Joseph Smith died. Several people had a really strong spiritual experience when Brigham Young began to talk to them and the Holy Ghost helped them know that Brigham Young should be their next prophet. We also went ...

First Week of Home School

On Monday we started home school, On Wednesday at home school I finished a really good book called The Best in the West . It is very interesting. There is an almost eight foot bear in the book! The other book I have read this week is The Tale of Peter Rabbit . It is on my Battle of the Books list. My favorite topic this week has been math. One of the things I learned in math is the hyphen. You don't use a hyphen in numbers one-twenty or in numbers ending in zero. (Because those are whole numbers.) But you do use a hyphen in numbers like twenty-one. I have finished lesson 51. I did all of those lessons plus several quizzes. We went on a walk and saw salmon. They are getting ready to lay eggs and die. They were flopping a lot and fighting over who gets to be in the exact spot where they were born. I got to shoot a BB gun for science. We learned about inertia. We were doing science by shooting the BB gun at a can to see...

A Story From When I was LIttle and Other Stuff

Recently I have been interested in hearing stories about when I was little. One of my favorite stories that Mom told me was about when Ammon and I were little and we would hog the bed. She said that I would come get in her bed over and over again. Dad would carry me back to my own bed, but I would always come back. She said that even though I was small, I would take up ALL the space. Somehow I could make my arms sprawl all over the queen sized bed so there was hardly any room left. When Ammon also tried to get into Mom and Dad's bed it was even worse. Sometimes Dad would just give up on having room and he would go sleep on the couch for the rest of the night. Right now I live in Craig, Alaska on Prince of Wales Island. All of my cousins are in Utah and all of my grandparents are also in Utah. I miss them and am going to visit them in just a few weeks for my baptism. I am inviting all of my cousins, grandmas and grandpas and maybe some of my uncles and one or two aunts. I already ...
