Chapter 3: Still Siler (Week 2)

And it came to pass in the second week of the second transfer nothing interesting happened.

We went on exchanges. That was fun. I got to talk to some Hindus instead of Hispanics. The Hindus speak English more often than the Hispanics so it was a very nice change to actually be able to talk to people for a day.

I learned how to repair small holes. So I stitched up the hole from when I got attacked by a dog a million years ago. And also I somehow got holes in both of my jeans. But now there are no more holes!

Random thing, last Pday I found a Book of Mormon from 1997! And inside it says:

Alma 39:17-19
17 ...Behold, I say unto you, is not a soul at this time as precious unto God as a soul will be at the time of his coming?
18 Is it not as necessary that the plan of redemption should be made known unto this people as well as unto their children?
19 Is it not as easy at this time for the Lord to send his angel to declare these glad tidings unto us as unto our children, or as after the time of his coming?

One thing I've been thinking about a lot is the restoration. If you come to the south and talk to people about religion you'll gain a testimony of the apostasy so fast. So many people think there are no more prophets and a lot of them doubt Christ's church is on the Earth. Sadly most of them don't think it's possible for it to be restored. To me verse 19 really stuck out and gave me an amazing inspired question to ask people. If God sent angels then would it not be just as easy to do it now?

God is unchanging and all loving and to me that is the two most important things to understand about him. If we truly believe and understand that then we can get through our hardest times in life knowing that it will be for our good. Maybe not in this life, but at some point it will benefit us. Of course even with that understanding the hard things are still hard. We will still struggle. But we will be able to find peace in all of the pain.

I know God is real and he loves us. I know Jesus Christ is His only begotten and that He suffered and died and was resurrected so we too could be resurrected and be cleansed of sin and return to God with bodies of flesh and bone. I know this church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is the true restored church of Jesus Christ. I bear witness that God speaks to His people today, even to each individual person. And I type these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

I love all y'all! Have a great Thanksgiving week!
And thus ended the second week of the second transfer.

Church History Museum Visit

My mom and I made this collage for a scout requirement. My mom accidentally put the wrong year on the picture. These pictures are actually from our trip to Utah last December. It was 2015. For scouts I need to write about how this experience helped me feel reverent or helped me better understand my duty to God. It helped me feel reverent because it has historical and religious stuff and only historical and religious stuff. And modern day religious stuff. One example was a replica of the golden plates. We got to lift it to see how heavy they were. They said it was 50 pounds and it was REALLY heavy! Also, I got to see a video that had my Grandma Lynn in it. It was about the early members of the church who were trying to decide who the next prophet should be after Joseph Smith died. Several people had a really strong spiritual experience when Brigham Young began to talk to them and the Holy Ghost helped them know that Brigham Young should be their next prophet. We also went ...

First Week of Home School

On Monday we started home school, On Wednesday at home school I finished a really good book called The Best in the West . It is very interesting. There is an almost eight foot bear in the book! The other book I have read this week is The Tale of Peter Rabbit . It is on my Battle of the Books list. My favorite topic this week has been math. One of the things I learned in math is the hyphen. You don't use a hyphen in numbers one-twenty or in numbers ending in zero. (Because those are whole numbers.) But you do use a hyphen in numbers like twenty-one. I have finished lesson 51. I did all of those lessons plus several quizzes. We went on a walk and saw salmon. They are getting ready to lay eggs and die. They were flopping a lot and fighting over who gets to be in the exact spot where they were born. I got to shoot a BB gun for science. We learned about inertia. We were doing science by shooting the BB gun at a can to see...

A Story From When I was LIttle and Other Stuff

Recently I have been interested in hearing stories about when I was little. One of my favorite stories that Mom told me was about when Ammon and I were little and we would hog the bed. She said that I would come get in her bed over and over again. Dad would carry me back to my own bed, but I would always come back. She said that even though I was small, I would take up ALL the space. Somehow I could make my arms sprawl all over the queen sized bed so there was hardly any room left. When Ammon also tried to get into Mom and Dad's bed it was even worse. Sometimes Dad would just give up on having room and he would go sleep on the couch for the rest of the night. Right now I live in Craig, Alaska on Prince of Wales Island. All of my cousins are in Utah and all of my grandparents are also in Utah. I miss them and am going to visit them in just a few weeks for my baptism. I am inviting all of my cousins, grandmas and grandpas and maybe some of my uncles and one or two aunts. I already ...
