Don't shoot! (Ch6: Lake Wheeler, W4)

And it came to pass in the fourth week of the fifth transfer the work hastened even more!!

Media Referrals (people who filled out an ad to meet with us):
We stopped by a media referral late at night with a member. Robert, the media referral answered his door with a gun then saw us and said "oh it's the LDS missionaries! Come in come in." The member was pretty concerned but we weren't too phased and we walked in. The member asked "is that a gun!?" to which Robert said "yeah let me put this away before it goes off accidentally." He is super cool! Apparently he came to church 2 weeks ago without us knowing and he's pretty interested in learning more and he came to church again yesterday!

Alex filled out a media referral as well. He was on date when I first got here but he was too busy so we stopped teaching him because he couldn't set up a time and he couldn't come but we reached out after his request on Monday and he set up a time with us and we've met with him several times and he came to church so he is back on date for baptism!

We talked to an inactive member at Walmart then stopped by a media referral and it was someone in his household so we talked to him twice in one day and he said he couldn't come this Sunday (yesterday) but he would be there next week and most of his family is inactive and not baptized but still read the Book of Mormon and love the church! We're definitely going to work with them and help them get baptized.

Other stuff:
We got 16 people to church and 4 of them went to relief society. Apparently relief society gave them the opportunity to share their experiences with the missionaries and they loved it and now the relief society loves us! They were super excited and complemented us so so much!! We also have a total of 9 people on date for baptism now.

We got a family of 7 to church! Only 3 of them count towards the 16 total sacrament attendance because only 3 are older than age 8. One of them (TJ) has a birthday today! They don't have a ton of money so they said his birthday party was coming to church. We bought him some some candy and cupcakes and celebrated! We made them best friends with another big family and it was awesome!

Speaking of birthdays Jina came to church a few weeks ago and didn't really like it but we convinced her to come again because it was my birthday! She came and brought me a gift card and she felt the spirit and wants to come back!

I don't often add a separate spiritual thought anymore partially because I don't have time but also because the miracles I include count as the spiritual thought for me. God is in the details! All of the people that came to church have miracles associated with them. We even had someone show up to church and we don't remember inviting them! God is very aware of each and every one of us individually and there are daily miracles in everyone's lives! Look for them, appreciate them, pray for them. As you do any and all of those things God will bless you even more!

I love all y'all much!
And thus ended the fourth week of the fifth transfer

Church History Museum Visit

My mom and I made this collage for a scout requirement. My mom accidentally put the wrong year on the picture. These pictures are actually from our trip to Utah last December. It was 2015. For scouts I need to write about how this experience helped me feel reverent or helped me better understand my duty to God. It helped me feel reverent because it has historical and religious stuff and only historical and religious stuff. And modern day religious stuff. One example was a replica of the golden plates. We got to lift it to see how heavy they were. They said it was 50 pounds and it was REALLY heavy! Also, I got to see a video that had my Grandma Lynn in it. It was about the early members of the church who were trying to decide who the next prophet should be after Joseph Smith died. Several people had a really strong spiritual experience when Brigham Young began to talk to them and the Holy Ghost helped them know that Brigham Young should be their next prophet. We also went ...

First Week of Home School

On Monday we started home school, On Wednesday at home school I finished a really good book called The Best in the West . It is very interesting. There is an almost eight foot bear in the book! The other book I have read this week is The Tale of Peter Rabbit . It is on my Battle of the Books list. My favorite topic this week has been math. One of the things I learned in math is the hyphen. You don't use a hyphen in numbers one-twenty or in numbers ending in zero. (Because those are whole numbers.) But you do use a hyphen in numbers like twenty-one. I have finished lesson 51. I did all of those lessons plus several quizzes. We went on a walk and saw salmon. They are getting ready to lay eggs and die. They were flopping a lot and fighting over who gets to be in the exact spot where they were born. I got to shoot a BB gun for science. We learned about inertia. We were doing science by shooting the BB gun at a can to see...

A Story From When I was LIttle and Other Stuff

Recently I have been interested in hearing stories about when I was little. One of my favorite stories that Mom told me was about when Ammon and I were little and we would hog the bed. She said that I would come get in her bed over and over again. Dad would carry me back to my own bed, but I would always come back. She said that even though I was small, I would take up ALL the space. Somehow I could make my arms sprawl all over the queen sized bed so there was hardly any room left. When Ammon also tried to get into Mom and Dad's bed it was even worse. Sometimes Dad would just give up on having room and he would go sleep on the couch for the rest of the night. Right now I live in Craig, Alaska on Prince of Wales Island. All of my cousins are in Utah and all of my grandparents are also in Utah. I miss them and am going to visit them in just a few weeks for my baptism. I am inviting all of my cousins, grandmas and grandpas and maybe some of my uncles and one or two aunts. I already ...
